DESCRIPTION:Introduction\nOur Lime Rendering & Plastering course will give contractors\, specifiers and homeowners practical hands-on experience of the techniques and skills employed when using lime mortars. \nThis one-day course is led by Alister Polhill who has many years of experience in all aspects of traditional building. The day is suitable for all abilities and covers all aspects of the use of lime\, from the history to getting hands on with the tools. \nCourse Overview\nMeet from 9:00 for coffee\, and then starting at 9:30 with introductions and a little bit of Health and Safety!\n(Theory) 1 hr\nThe lime cycle\, types of lime and their uses\nHistory of lime\nMaking lime mortars\, sands and binders (include slaking/hot lime)\nTypes of lime\, air lime vs NHL\, proprietary mixes\, insulating limes\nWhy we use lime with examples\nTools for plastering\n(Practical) 2 hrs\nMixing mortars\, recognising correct consistency\nLaying on techniques\, tips and tricks\nLime rendering onto solid walls\n(LUNCH) ½ hr\n(Practical) 2 hrs\nLime rendering onto lath\nLime Plastering\nLime plastering onto wood wool boards and insulation boards\nDiscussion/ Q&A ½ hr \nIf there are no tickets available\, please email sales@bramhillspecialist.co.uk to be added to the emailing list for courses.
